blame it on charissa. she wrote something about loving High Society songs in her facebook status and of course i went to comment about it! i'm a huge fan of High Society after all. while she linked a video of maksim's still water on facebook, i went to High Society's website to look at the discs (she bought A Love to Remember 3 for her friend). right on top of the songlist of that album was maksim's Still Water. went to youtube to find the video because the link charissa uploaded on facebook was too soft, but that seem to be the only decent video in youtube (the rest was renditions by netizens). so i upped the volume and ZOMGS, i'm in love with the song.

it has that super melancholic feel, and it was written somewhere that it was one of the calmest/saddest song of maksim. as i listened to the song (on repeat), images of lovers being separated in the ancient european (mainly italian/british/parisian i don't know why) times came into mind. it also reminded me of Mono's Life in Mono, probably it had the same haunting feeling too.

and then i started listening to maksim's other songs and i must say i'm quite impressed with some of the tunes too (i only had Croatian Rhapsody in my itunes previously), like New World Concerto (which was featured in A Love to Remember 2) and Exodus. in super instrumental mood now!

anyways. met up with shiyun for lunch in jp at around noon time. (cuz a few days ago i decided that we shall meet up and thus we did) because of her fantastic phone app, i bought Steve Berry's The Charlemange Pursuit. i suppose it would be a good read, because i'm a fan of steve berry too! i have a feeling i would have tons of books to catch up on during the summer holidays, because i've noted down so many book names in this trip to Harris! probably gonna ask the bwg boys to buy books back for me from taiwan! and i still have a handful of books unread lying in my bookshelf. rahs.

went to Ambush for lunch after much deliberation (used shiyun's phone app again and we had intended to go Fish & Co before we got attracted by the smells of Ambush). had paella! was a rare treat because this spanish dish is quite hard to find! had clam chowder too!

had haagen-dazs for dessert and it's shiyun's fault cuz she said she wanted to have dessert and in the end she didn't eat. shld have bought the cappuccino truffle ice-cream! chocolate chocolate chip has disappointed me this time. went to the bank before i headed back to hall to write my essay. i'm about done okay! just need some editing.

anyway was testing out Hipstamatic app in my phone and it's marvellous! love the tone and feel. the first two photos were taken with John S lens, and the one above was taken with Kaimal Mark II. all three used Ina's 1969 film without flash. fantastic! lomo takes second place for now! :D

feel like posting up this picture cuz the kid is SUPER CUTE! he's called Lincoln and he's the son of one of our hall fellows, Prof Toon (pronounced that way). he's very bubbly and ran around during wednesday's hall supper and yesterday's dialogue session! ANDDDD he has damn long eyelashes. like wth! what's wrong with kids these days man. all have long eyelashes! my younger cousin chen xin hao (which yy likes to call it as chen xin hong - aka 阿信) has damn long eyelashes too! zomgs.

i nearly had a photo of him looking straight into my camera. ohwells. next time then. :D

okay back to editing my essay before packing my bag for tomorrow's recce after the Run Around Singapore thingy!
